Dialogues on Sustainability and Leadership

We are all capable of thought. We are also constantly making choices - sometimes consciously and sometimes unconsciously. Given that certainty, probability and potentiality exist in the world, if we wish to exercise good judgement, have excellent relations and sound principles to live by, then we benefit from having a clear perception of that world and its impact on us personally. That is, we gain from being able to accurately differentiate our ways of knowing (thinking about, valuing) the world and the nature of the objects in it.

I know for example that my son is valuable - just don't ask me exactly how and especially not how that value can change in different situations. Above all don't ask me why some actions work and others don't, why my feelings and emotions that are so real to me can be both so accurate and so inaccurate. Ultimately my son is a mystery to me - I am a mystery to me. Please tell me why?

I think therefore I am. (René Descartes - 17th century philosopher)
How do you know the world and yourself? Let me explain... (Robert Hartman - 20th century Founder of Formal Axiology)
Insights as to why people think and act in ways that cause them to repeat mistakes they could avoid. (Dr Bob Smith - 21st Century Practitioner of Axiology)

Do you see value in finding out more on the topic of thinking?

Nick, Thank you for introducing Axiology here at Open World Café. I agree with you that Axiology potentially offers a powerful tool to discuss how we value things, situations, and the people in our lives - and all of humanity for that matter. Potentially because we have yet to make Axiology sufficiently mainstream so that people, human beings, stop to reflect on this valuing process, and become more aware of the damage "automatic" thinking - primarily under stress - is to them, their friends, families, and society at large. I sincerely look forward to discussing this at length here online and invite everyone to join us at the Open World Café in Stockholm (Danderyd - opening soon!) to engage in this dialogue.

Hallo Nick,

You wrote - " I think therefore I am " - what if it's - I (am) there for(e) something I think (about) - and maybe it's just reverse reflection of PurpoSe.

But are you thinking (only) - really ??

Your son is certainly you - one and equal - so you a right - you are mistery = your son (you) also is.

Best regards and enjoy,

Adeleide
