How did you hear about Open World Café?
In my dreams
About Me:
As an entrepreneur Christer Söderberg has developed an intimate relationship with the multiple aspects and interdependency of international business. Christer started and managed a NGO coordinating humanitarian aid during the war in Bosnia, managed a telecom product design company based in Hong Kong and as Director of a Swedish multinational in Brazil, established the industrial products company in six South American countries. Christer has lived in nine countries and speaks the languages of seven. During the siege of Sarajevo, he lived 100 meters from the front line (realizing he was also the enemy). He has seen street urchins smile in the midst of poverty and experienced first hand the differences in culture and working conditions on four continents.

After returning from Brazil in 2002 Christer started Zero Aeons AB, a Stockholm based Business Leadership and Communications consultancy. Christer also co-manages Terra Brasilis AB, founded with a Swedish partner to introduce Brazilian art, furniture, and design to Sweden and develop a business based on a triple bottom line. The Open World Foundation brings the spirit of these two businesses together, creating meeting places to inspire leadership, learning, and environmental awareness.
About my business:
Social business consultancy, coach, speaker, writer, workshop facilitator
What I want:
Like minded individuals wanting to make a contribution towards transformational change in a values based leadership for social, environmental, and economical sustainability.

Corporate and private members, sponsors for our projects, and opening Open World Cafés in other world capitals
What I´m doing about it:
My business experience, dedication, and passion to contribute
For me, Leadership is . . .
Life leadership, leading by example
For me, Sustainability is . . .
Adding value without destroying the environment, not doing any harm
For me, Open World Café is . . .
A place to think, reflect, and develop a dialogue about leadership and sustainability, two issues of tremendous importance for the evolution of the planet.
My contribution to Open World Café is . . .
Contributing content and the places
My Favourite Quote:
Too many to mention, although these words by J. Krishnamurti feel relevant:

"If there is some peace among a few people, then those few, not necessarily the élite, will employ all their skill to bring about a different world, then religion and science can go together."

and to clarify, Krishnamurti continues:

"Religion is a form of science. That is, to know and to go beyond all knowledge, to comprehend the nature and immensity of the universe, not through a telescope, but the immensity of the mind and heart. And this immensity has nothing whatsoever to do with any organized religion."

J. Krishnamurti, Krishnamurti to Himself, His Last Journal, p. 127
My favourite movie, and my favourite book
The Matrix, Star Wars, It's a Wonderful Life, Wizard of Oz, to name a few.
Books, too many to mention, right now; The Impossible Question, by J. Krishnamurti, Black Swan by Nassim Nicholas Taleb, Three Cup of Tea by Greg Mortensen et. al, Creating a World Without Poverty, by Muhammad Yunus.
My passion is . . .
Learning
My greatest fear is . . .
Ignorance

Replanting a Rainforest: Update 2 - 091111

Replanting a Rainforest began in earnest three weeks ago on October 20th, after having received a generous donation from WeForest.com. And things started happening in a big way.

Almost immediately a group representing our local partners, Fazenda Ambiental Fortaleza (FAF) and the local NGO Grupo Ecológico Olho D’Agua, and neighbors with lands bordering on FAF, went to inspect and study more closely some of the areas which had been defined to be a part of the total project of almost 300 hectares;… Continue

Awareness Day

October 24th will surely go down in history for the many events, actions, rallies, and meetings. It's United Nations Day and it's International Day of Climate Action (www.350.org). At Open World Café we are contributing by having an "Organic (Low Carbon) Food Day", one of more than 4500 actions in more than 180 countries (and we hope you join us, or any other 350.org event around the world)!

I would like this to go down in history as AwarenessContinue

What is This Really About?

We didn’t need the financial crisis to tell us that something was wrong. We didn’t need the environmental crisis to tell us something was wrong. Social injustices coupled with ignorance and poverty has been with us for a long time. There is no justification or excuse for the fact that more than half the population of the world, that’s more than 3,500,000,000 human beings, are unable to lead dignified lives; where fathers and mothers can’t bring home enough food for the family to eat a healthy me… Continue

Rio 2016 - Summer Olympics - Congratulations!

The Summer Olympic Games in 2016 will be held in Rio de Janeiro! What an opportunity to put "A Cidade Maravilhosa" (The Marvelous City) back on the world's map!

The Olympics are of course debatable; do they bring prosperity, or do they just cost a lot of money at the expense of other more important projects? Rio has many challenges, too many to think of (we lived there 2000 - 2002), but nothing comes close to the beauty, the friendliness, and sheer "joia" (joy) of it's it's people the "Carioca"… Continue

Stop, Reflect & Listen - London on September 23, 2009

For pictures from the event at Casa Decor UK click here.

Coming from Stockholm to London is always an experience; the city is literally cooking with activity, you can feel the energy all around you; business is very much "happening", crisis or no crisis. I made the assumption that activities to alleviate the social, environmental and economic pressures on society and the planet would be equally powe… Continue

Eu tenho uma palestra para apresentar em Blumenau no dia 15 de Novembro e meu retorno de Sao Paulo precisa ser no dia 13. Será que conseguimos nos encontrar? Um abraço,

Hi Christer,
It was Tomas Read that give me the idea to join Open World Cafe Community and he also encouraged me to start up with honey bee farming in Philippines. My friend Frank from Olongapo and I are now starting and I will be over there next week in Subic Bay.

HW means HardWare. I am doing electronic hardware design and construction for embedded systems like military systems in airplanes, controllers for radiocommunication in basestations for mobile telephony, controller for satellite communications platform, controllers for instrumentation and controllers for enviromental control. I also do SW (SoftWare) design for my embedded systems. It is a complicated and artificial world and I am now trying to migrate down to the earth and becoming a Bee Farmer in Philippines where I have a house. Planning to move there next year and retire. The outcome of a Swedish pension is much better over there and I like the nature.
