June 10, 2009 from 6pm to 8pm
This 90+ minute documentary is not only breathtakingly beautiful in the scenery of the Earth filmed from the air, it is a document of our time, with brilliant narration, and facts of human impact on the planet presented in a compelling, irrefutable…

Thank you Ed, Great tip. Also on the Prodes project, although unfortunately when I got down to 2 km the screen went black; perhaps they start charging when the resolution gets usable. The person who is doing the geotechnical survey uses similar pict…

I have looked more into this 'Age of Stupid' film - apparently it's really great. The official UK release is in 2 days but only through independent viewings, one of which I am hoping to arrange myself in Newcastle. As for across Europe, I think the…

Does anyone here know about Brasil's PRODES project? Using satellite imagery, they are painstakingly following the rapid destruction of the tropical rainforests in Brazil. http://www.obt.inpe.br/prodesdigital/cadastro.php That is the website to s…

Cool, I didn't know much about him so have done a bit of reading. I'm not sure what it says in the book, but from what I could find it seems one of his main objections to wind is the UK governments attempts to relax planning laws and build them even…

Hi Ed, I will look into age of stupid, what do you think about James Lovelock's book " The Vanishing Face of Gaia"? He is against wind and in favour of nuclear - what do you think? Returned one week ago from Brazil, where we now have a partnership…

Hi Ed, Thank you for the www.monbiot.com tip, great, especially the "Pure Rubbish: Christopher Booker Prize 2009".

If you have a suggestion for a book I will be happy to add it, unfortunately it has to be done by me. Alternatively, and perhaps better, is if you would like to post a review of the book in the forum, and generate a discussion. In some text boxes there is the possibility of adding HTML links - as above. Thanks for sharing!

Hi Ed, I like your stuff, funny (one of them), but serious, good mix. Is that alien Eddie Izzard?

Hi Ed, Tell me more about the picture you chose to represent yourself, there really seems to be a lot of stuff going on there. Curious, Christer

Hi Ed, Just wanted to thank you for all the excellent contributions to the network. We are developing an idea about documentaries for and about sponsors who support our "Replanting a Rainforest" project so both your discussions are very relevant. Best, Christer

Hello Ed! And welcome! I guess I have to admit a certain relationship to Porsches, I comfort myself with the thought of being happy with a 1958 Speedster, which has essentially a souped up VW Bug engine = less speed, less pollution. I was recently looking into electric cars and found some very fun videos on YouTube about rebuilt Porsche 914's; maybe something you want to look into? Anyway, look forward to seeing you here. Invite your friends, post a blog (on wind energy?). See you, Christer

Hey deary! How fun to see you here! How are you?!?!?
I've been thinking of writing you quite a few times, never end up doing it. When are you heading back to Britain? It looks as if I'll be in London this fall ;-)
Good to hear from you! Beijos

the triple bottom line! Although the economic one isn't important!
For me, Open World Café is . . .
a wonderful concept where the knowledgeable and wise can come together, discuss and shape the future in the way that it sees fit for the coming generation - that's me.

Hopefully I will be able to grasp the wealth of information here and do something useful for the world!
My contribution to Open World Café is . . .
being relatively young, blissfully ignorant and slightly idealistic.
My Favourite Quote:
